Am I not allowed to hold securities overnight bought on a Margin?

Hey guys, I recently opened a margin account with Fidelity. My cash balance was 3,000 and I bought a stock for $6,000. Since I borrowed 3,000 from the margin I received a notification saying I needed to cover or face margin liquidation. I called Fidelity and I was told that I needed to sell the security before the market closes and not hold it overnight because half of it was bought on a margin. I was confused because I thought I would have the full liberty of buying and holding stocks bought using margins at my own risk. Is this normal?
